What’s New in Globalscape EFT 8.3.2: Stronger Security, Smoother Administration, and Smarter Protection Built In

Organizations using Globalscape EFT rely on the platform to move sensitive files efficiently, securely, and in line with strict internal and external compliance requirements. With the release of Globalscape EFT 8.3.2, Fortra MFT continues to advance this mission.

With EFT 8.3.2, customers gain stronger encryption, tighter access control, deeper intelligence, and better administrative tools to help organizations strengthen their security posture, reduce operational friction, improve compliance alignment, and enable safe, efficient collaboration across teams

Following are a few release highlights:

Security Enhancements for Globalscape EFT

Security expectations evolve quickly, and encryption standards and proactive security measures must keep pace. EFT 8.3.2 helps organizations meet modern regulatory expectations and achieve actionable threat intelligence without sacrificing performance or compatibility with:

  • Proactive Security Via Threat Brain Integration: Reacting to threats to your sensitive or high-value data simply isn’t enough. Globalscape v8.3.2 integrates directly with Fortra’s Threat Brain, to bring proactive, real-time IP reputation intelligence into your MFT environment. With Threat Brain enabled, EFT can automatically:

    • Identify and block malicious IP addresses
    • Reverify IP reputation continuously across new session
    • Reduce risk from brute-force attempts, botnets, and low reputation endpoints

This capability—powered by Fortra’s deep cybersecurity portfolio and global threat intelligence network—means bad actors get stopped before they ever reach your file transfer infrastructure.

    • Support for Multiple SSH Host Keys per Site: Many organizations need to maintain multiple SSH host keys to meet partner requirements, rotate keys easily, or improve operational resilience. EFT 8.3.2 gives teams more flexibility and better alignment with internal key management policies.
    • Support for FIPS 140 3 (SSL and SSH): Globalscape is now aligned with the U.S. and Canadian governments’ most current cryptographic module validation standard—FIPS 140 3. By leveraging OpenSSL 3.1.2, EFT 8.3.2 raises the bar for both SSL and SSH communications to help ensure highly secure, compliant data exchanges across regulated environments.
    • Strengthened Administrative Access: Whether your admins work onsite, remotely, or across distributed environments, Globalscape  helps ensure that access stays protected from unauthorized use through:
      • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Web Admin: As administrative interfaces are among the most sensitive entry points in any secure file transfer deployment, EFT 8.3.2 helps minimize risk by offering MFA for the Web Admin console to help align with security frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and NIST.

    Administrative Enhancements for Globalscape

Users can expect improved visibility, more control options, and a better overall workflow for day-to-day site administration.

    • Workspace Ownership Transfer: To help ensure smoother collaboration across teams, departments and roles, and support better governance of shared content, Globalscape now allows administrators to ensure continuous access and eliminate blockers if a user leaves or transitions to a new role.
    • Web Admin Client (WAC): New support features are designed to simplify management and improve user experience. EFT 8.3.2 expands WAC’s capabilities to make administrative tasks faster, clearer, and more intuitive.

This release reinforces EFT’s role as a modern, enterprise-grade MFT platform organizations can trust with their most sensitive data.
