1. What does “personal data” mean?
“Personal data” (sometimes referred to as “personal information” or “personally identifiable information”) means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.  If we are not (or at least not without a disproportionate amount of time and effort) able to relate a direct link to you personally, this information is not personal data.

We take your privacy seriously and use your personal data to administer your account, deliver content, provide free trials, and inform you of product offerings.  More specific details of how our websites work and how we process personal data are provided below:

General principle:  In general, you can visit and read most parts of our websites’ contents without providing any personal data.

Statistical data:  For the process of retrieving your requested information from our websites, our servers store certain data needed for service delivery and/or for statistical or security purposes in anonymised or pseudonymised form. In this context, general information is recorded, such as your domain name or browser type. The data do not enable us to draw conclusions regarding your identity; they are always collected under a pseudonym. These anonymised or pseudonymised data are deleted promptly after their statistical evaluation.

Web services:  You will need to provide your name, address, telephone number, and email to register for a “Globalscape Account.” The account allows you to access various Globalscape services online, such as managing your licenses, administering the protection of all your devices, or requesting support. Those services may be governed by a separate privacy statement which may differ from this policy.

Premium Content:  In order to access various content elements, such as Whitepapers or Videos, to reach dedicated marketing material, or to register for events, we will ask for your name, email address, and we may also request your address, the name of your employer, and your phone number. 

Free trials:  If you want to test our products, we will also ask for your name and email address, and we may also request your address, the name of your employer, and your phone number. This information will be used for sending out the activation code and to remind you of the end of the trial period. Up to 14 days after the end of the trial period, you may receive a final reminder and an offer to purchase a full license. The trial registration is voluntary and you are free to withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email. Upon your opt-out, we will promptly delete your information unless you decide to purchase a full license.

Contact Forms:  If you want to contact us by using our contact and support forms, you will be asked to provide your contact information (entry fields marked “*”), which we will exclusively process or use as necessary to get in contact with you and provide you with the information you desire. You are free to provide additional information (through the data fields not marked “*”), which we will process in line with all applicable data protection requirements. This data will be forwarded to the Globalscape or Globalscape Partner office in your country. The Globalscape or Globalscape Partner will use the data in order to get in contact with you.

Marketing:  From time to time, if you have consented, we will e-mail you our newsletters, free product updates, and other special offers. This subscription is voluntary and you are free to withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link you will find in every email.  

5. Retention of personal data
The personal data we obtain for you will be retained up to indefinitely. 

6. Sharing of personal data
For the provision of certain services, we may make use of external service providers, such as Software as a Service (SaaS) providers. To the extent those external service providers need to have access to personal data, we ensure that any such access is limited to the extent necessary for the provision of the respective service. Furthermore, such external service providers of course have to submit themselves to comply with all applicable data protection regulations.

A "cookie" is a small text file that is stored on computers, tablets, mobile phones and any device used to browse the Internet, capable of storing navigation information for statistical or functional purposes. We use Google Analytics to improve the user experience. Google Analytics helps us determine the number of visitors to our site and helps us understand how users find our site. We are not provided with information allowing us to link an individual to an IP address. 11. Access to your information and correction
You can access and change your profile by signing into your account.

At your request, we will inform you what personal data we have stored about you and for what purpose(s). Should we ever have stored incorrect data about you, despite our efforts to only store accurate and current data, we will correct it promptly upon recognition or at your request.

In case you want us to delete your personal data or revoke consent granted for certain processing of your personal data, please contact us in the same way. You can also delete your account information by confirming this setting in your profile.

If deletion of your data should not be possible for technical or legal reasons, we will block the respective data instead.

This Privacy Policy only applies to Globalscape, Inc. websites and websites of our affiliates linking to this Privacy Policy.  Our websites contain multiple links to other websites.  Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.  When visiting other websites, you should read those sites’ privacy policies.  

13. Children under the age of 13
Our websites are not intended for children.  No one under age 13 may provide any personal data on our websites.  We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.  If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on our websites.  If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information.  If you believe we might have information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@globalscape.com.

Globalscape may decide to sell, buy, merge, or otherwise reorganize its business.  If that occurs,  you will be notified via email or a prominent notice on our website of any ownership change and any changes in the use of your personal data.
