Cybersecurity is an integral component of virtually every business's operations. Without an effective data protection policy in place, organizations will always be in danger of experiencing an extremely damaging security breach. The losses from such incidents can easily total millions of dollars, not to mention the loss of customer and client trust. For many firms, the damage caused by a major data breach can be too great to overcome.

With these potential consequences in mind, it is obviously reasonable for organizations to place an extremely high value on high-grade secure file sharing and other data protection strategies. After all, the money invested in these preventative measures represents a mere fraction of the possible costs of a data breach.

However, this does not mean that businesses should view any trade off as acceptable when it comes to data protection. Specifically, firms should reject the notion that high-quality cybersecurity may be a drain on corporate resources. On the contrary, companies can and should pursue secure file sharing solutions that can operate effectively without slowing down the organization's processes or compromising its productivity.

Unfortunately, not every security solution meets these requirements. Many legacy data protection systems impose significant burdens on companies. For example, the file sharing tools may require users to perform a significant number of time-consuming manual processes to ensure that data sets remain protected at all times. If this is the case, the company's productivity will suffer as workers will not be investing their time in the most efficient way possible.

Furthermore, if users must jump through hoops to ensure the security of files, they may ultimately become frustrated with such measures. As a result, they may begin to avoid these tools, relying instead on less secure, consumer-grade file sharing options. If this happens, the company's information will be at risk of loss and exposure.

Better options available
High-quality secure file sharing solutions, on the other hand, can and should feature a significant degree of automated functionality. With automation in place, companies can utilize their human resources more efficiency and effectively. Workers do not need to activate separate programs - the information is protected at all times, without manual input. These top-of-the-line file sharing solutions are therefore less burdensome, more reliable and far more secure.
