For any business to thrive, it must have adequate data management tools in place. Critically, these tools must include the means of sending and receiving high volumes of data among personnel within the organization.

Managed file transfer (MFT) solutions are among the most popular tools for achieving this goal. With MFT, businesses can empower their employees to share information safely, securely and quickly.

Yet not all MFT options are equally valuable. There are significant differences among the various offerings, and businesses must be careful to choose the right tool for their needs. Specifically, firms need to select an MFT solution that is hands-off.

Oftentimes, this is not the case. Many companies' MFT offerings require significant management, oversight and commitment on the part of the IT department and individual employees. In a lot of these cases, employees will actually need to receive specific training to ensure that they are utilizing the tools and managing the system properly. Failures in any of these areas can compromise corporate data security and undermine productivity. Yet the sheer need to devote time and energy toward the MFT solutions will also inevitably damage a given firm's efficiency.

That is why selecting a hands-off MFT solution is valuable. With such a tool in place, the company's employees will be free to share files and data without the burden of managing their file sharing systems. The IT department will be free to focus on more significant, high-level projects and systems, as well. The end result is a more productive, efficient and secure organization and happier employees in every department. But these results can only be seen if the company is careful during the MFT selection process.
